Idols, 2019
60"x72"
Acrylic on Canvas
"What might be seen as random is actually a playful combination of elements that tell a story. The Campbell's soup can is an obvious homage to Andy Warhol, a pop artist who was at the top his is career in the 1960s. When the Batman TV series of 1966 was being developed, the bright colors were not inspired by the comic books as many people though, instead by the pop art movement of the time. The character of Batman himself was inspired by the pulp fiction character, Zorro, which is represented as a portion of a TV listing. All of these elements inspired each other in some way and together comprise this piece of contemporary pop art!" -Pitch Black
