“Ophid, (Reptilian in Latin), is true to it's name and is clearly snakelike. It looks as though it is ready to strike while still being decidedly abstract. I have another version of this piece in painted bronze. The white paint emphasizes the muscular contours of the sculpture. My wife and I are involved with Tai Chi Chuan. This piece was part of a series that, I hope, depict in an abstract way the concept of Chi, our life force.” -Michael Shewmaker
